Citizen CLP 521 Configuration
The printer is usually set to use the ‘transparent’ sensor as standard. Tickets with a black index mark on the reverse (most fan-fold tickets, including Nortech Software thermal tickets) require a reflective sensor. The printer sensor is changed from transparent to reflective by using a combination of the printer buttons. The exact procedure is covered on page 34 of the CLP-521 users manual and is summarised here.
·
Enter sensor adjustment mode by turning the power on while holding down the PAUSE, FEED and STOP buttons. Release the buttons when the CONDITION LED lights up (the other LEDs are all off)
To switch from transparent to reflective, hold down the MODE/REPEAT button and press the STOP button. Each press of the STOP button will toggle the setting back and forth between the two sensor types.
If, after pressing the STOP button, the reflective sensor is selected, the buzzer will sound twice and the PRINT LED will flash slowly. If after pressing the STOP button the transparent sensor is selected, the buzzer will sound once and the PRINT LED lights up constantly.
With the transparent sensor selected, release the MODE/REPEAT button and press the STOP button to exit the sensor adjustment mode.
Adjust the position of the reflective sensor as shown on page 36 of the manual so that the ‘eye’ of the sensor is about half way across the black mark on the back of the ticket. Feed the fan-fold tickets through the back of the printer - coloured side upwards, arrow on reverse pointing forwards - and position to the left. Move the paper roll guide to meet the tickets. Move the ticket front guide to meet the tickets. Close the print-assembly. Set both adjustment wheels to 5. Switch on and press the feed button. The printer should feed just one ticket. If the printer feeds several tickets, the sensor is not positioned correctly (missing the black mark on the back of the ticket) or the sensor is set to transparent instead of reflective.
